5 Women of Color that could be the New Catwoman

There’s a lot of talk about who could be in the stand-alone Batman film with Ben Affleck. We know that Deathstroke will be featured, maybe Tim Drake (Robin), but what about Catwoman?

Recently, Anne Hathaway said she would love to return as the feline criminal/crime fighter in the current DCCU. But let’s remix that thought for a moment. What if she does pops up in the DCCU, but it’s someone else in the role? Personally, I’ve always thought of Selina as a woman of color.

When I saw Eartha Kitt as Catwoman it just made so much sense to me and in Batman: Year One, I thought she was a WOC.

So, if she’s introduced in the DCCU, I think these actresses should be considered for the role:

Teyonah Parris

Teyonah would be amazing as Selina. She has played diverse roles before and I think she will be a great Catwoman.

Yaya Dacosta

She was 2nd place in America’s Next Top Model, but now she’s doing her thing on film and television. Yaya’s sleek style and grace could be perfect for the role.

Genesis Rodriguez

Best known in Telemundo telenovelas, Genesis is no stranger to drama and action. So, playing Catwoman could be a breeze for her.

Rinko Kikuchi

Rinko is already an action star with Pacific Rim, 47 Ronin and other Japanese films. With lots of film experience, Rinko could transform Catwoman into something fascinating.

Rila Fukushima

Rila played Yukio in The Wolverine. Keeping it real, she was the best part of the film for me. Rila has cat-like features that could dazzle on screen. Hell, I’m already excited thinking about her in the role.
